What if the offender does not have insurance?

It’s an unfortunate reality, but there’s a lot of people in our society driving on a roadways that don’t have insurance. Even though the law says it’s mandatory, many people do not. Now, if you get involved in an accident and the person who’s responsible for that accident doesn’t have insurance, you better hope you have uninsured motorist coverage. Uninsured motorist coverage works like this. You get into an accident, the person doesn’t have insurance and you have uninsured motorist coverage, your company basically stays in the shoes of the person that hit you and they effectively represent the person and so you bring the claim against your own insurance company. It’s a wonderful coverage to have; it doesn’t cost that much more. I encourage every one of my clients, anyone who is willing to listen, get that coverage because there’s a lot of people out there that don’t have insurance and you are going to need it.
