The state of Michigan and the federal government will soon be working hand-in-hand to help prevent Social Security disability fraud.
By instituting a special investigations unit, government officials will be tasked with investigating Social Security disability fraud throughout the country. Actions that often involve disability fraud include filing multiple applications, hiding the source of income or current employment, and exaggerating the extent of one’s disabilities.
Investigations will be performed by 25 units, with the Michigan unit being the first to be created by the end of the 2016 fiscal year.
