Man Facing Fraud Charges May Have Murdered Student In 2012

Fifty-six-year-old Conroe, Texas resident Ali Mahmood Awad Irsan, arrested along with his wife and daughter for social security fraud, may have also been responsible for the 2012 death of Iranian student Gelareh Bagherzadeh, the Houston Chronicle reported on May 23.

Irsan, along with 37-year-old wife Shmou Ali Alrawabdeh and 30-year-old daughter Naid Irsan, was charged with fraud conspiracy by a federal court in Texas. Through this investigation, information surfaced that caused Irsan to also receive murder charges from Harris County authorities, Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson said. Alrawabdeh and Naid Irsan faced a U.S. magistrate judge on May 23 for their arraignment.

Social Security fraud is unfortunate because many people suffering from disabilities rely on social security benefits in order to afford their daily expenses. For people who cannot earn their daily wages because of such afflictions, the government’s Social Security disability programs can help them care for themselves and their loved ones.
