The lawyers in 46-year-old television actor Tracy Jamal Morgan’s personal injury lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. over a vehicular accident that happened last July have met in federal court last Tuesday, November 18 for a scheduling conference.
Last summer, a Wal-Mart truck, driven by 35-year-old Jonesboro, Georgia resident Kevin Roper, crashed into the back of a limousine that had onboard Morgan and several of his friends who were coming back from a show in Delaware.
Morgan’s friend, 62-year-old comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, died in the accident, while Morgan sustained a broken leg and three others suffered several fractures.
Morgan sued Wal-Mart for compensatory and punitive damages. The multinational retail store, on the other hand, claimed that Morgan and the others were partly to blame for their injuries because they had not been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
