Five San Antonio residents killed in deadly vehicular crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a two-vehicle collision along U.S. Route 57 south of Batesville resulted in the death of five residents from San Antonio. The accident occurred in Zavala County around 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, October 29.

A Toyota Camry that was driving along U.S. Route 57 drove into the oncoming lane of traffic, causing a collision with a Nissan Altima, a report from News 4 San Antonio showed. Two of the victims inside the Camry – identified as 66-year-old Rudy Salas and 61-year-old Lupe Garza Salas – were declared dead at the scene of the accident while 56-year-old Maryann Garcia succumbed to mortal injuries at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston.

The occupants of the Nissan Altima, 58-year-old Lloyd Halsell and 66-year-old Darlene Wilson, also died on the scene.
