New Trinity Industries guardrails tested in San Antonio

 In Product Liability

The safety of guardrails manufactured by Texas-based rail transport company Trinity Industries Inc. continues to be tested in San Antonio at the Southwest Research Institute, Click2Houston reported on December 10.

In earlier months, Trinity’s guardrails in Houston have been reported to be of questionable quality, potentially even posing a serious danger to vehicle occupants in the event of a collision.

Whistleblower Joshua Harman, a fellow guardrail installer and Trinity Industries’ competitor who won a lawsuit against the company in October of this year, testified that changes Trinity made to its guardrails in 2005 resulted in the death of a man whose car was impaled by the guardrails in an accident. One of the first tests, witnessed by representatives of the Federal Highway Administration, went as planned, and no evidence of defects were found.
