San Antonio woman dies in wrong-way accident
San Antonio, Texas resident Starla Garcia was killed after being involved in a four-vehicle accident along Interstate 35 at 5th Street in Moore, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 14.
According to a press statement issued by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Norman, Oklahoma resident Conner Otis was driving his 2013 Subaru southbound along the northbound lanes of the interstate when he crashed into Garcia’s vehicle head on.
Otis’ vehicle then made contact with a concrete barrier and struck another vehicle, which was operated by 54-year-old Lawton, Oklahoma resident Debralynn Jackson. A fourth vehicle was hit by debris that resulted from the collisions. Otis was trapped inside his vehicle for about 20 minutes before being rescued by emergency medical personnel and transported to a local hospital for the treatment of his critical injuries. Garcia, on the other hand, died at the scene of the accident.
Garcia’s passenger was treated for minor injuries and all others were unharmed during the incident.
I-35 was temporarily closed for approximately two and a half hours while police investigators surveyed the area.
