Social Security open for more hours at field offices

 In Social Security benefits

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced on Thursday, January 22 that a budget increase in 2015 will make it possible for the agency to extend its field office hours for an extra hour during weekdays, beginning in March.

The SSA said that because of budget cutbacks during previous years, the agency’s operating hours were from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but that starting March 16, its operations will increase by 1 hour, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday except Wednesdays. On Wednesday, field offices will continue its current schedule of closing at noon.
