Student killed in single-vehicle accident in San Antonio

The San Antonio Police Department in Texas reported a fatal single-vehicular accident on March 30, according to KENS 5.

The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Olmos Drive and claimed the life of 18-year-old Trinity University student Corey Burris Byrnes. Police investigations revealed that high speed may have contributed to the crash.

Byrnes was only one of the five individuals riding in the Acura TSX that was heading west in the 1000 block of East Olmos before it crashed.

From what is currently known about the crash, it appears that a female driver, who has not yet been identified to the public, lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete pillar supporting the Highway 281 bridge.

Police authorities have not said whether the female driver will be held liable for the incident. A statement was issued confirming that the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident are still being investigated.
